UK: Nana Mouskouri night on BBC Four
UK digital channel BBC Four has a theme night tonight to honour Nana Mouskouri, who has retired from performing earlier this year. Greek Nana Mouskouri took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in
1963 in London. Her performance from the contest, hosted by the BBC, is included in one of tonight’s shows on BBC Four, as well as a new documentary featuring footage from her farewell concert in Athens in July 2008.
First of the shows features an interview with Nana Mouskori and also rare archive footage. There will also be interviews with her family and friends, including former Eurovision Song Contest participant Julio Iglesias, Harry Belafonte and Charles Aznavour. The show also includes footage from her Athens concert last July, which marked her retirement from performing. The Legends show is on tonight at 9 pm UK time.
The second show will include her performances from the BBC archives, including her Eurovision Song Contest performance from 1963, when Ms Mouskouri scored an 8th place for Luxembourg with A force de prier.
The third show will be an episode of her TV show from 1976 with guests Demis Roussos, The King's Singers and James Galway.
Nana Mouskouri Night is on tonight, Friday 5 December from 9 pm (UK time) and the first two shows will be repeated on BBC Four on Sunday 7 December.
