Nana Mouskouri releases autobiography
Nana Mouskouri, the singer that has sold more than 400 million albums worldwide and who can boast over 300 gold discs in her long career, has released her autobiography, La fille de la Chauve-souris. The book was presented to the French public this past Sunday, during the Vivement Dimanche TV show which also featured as a special guest Helena Paparizou.
Last Sunday’s Vivement Dimanche show on France 2 hosted by Michel Drucker, popular TV presenter and 2006 Eurovision Song Contest commentator for France, was dedicated to the great lady’s life and work. Nana Mouskouri spoke about her career and sang together with her daughter, Lenou. The show also featured a medley of many video clips where Nana performed solo or together with international mega stars such as Harry Belafonte, Julio Iglesias, Serge Lama and even Nina Hagen!
When asked about her experience at the 1963 Eurovision Song Contest, where she participated for Luxembourg, Nana said that she didn't feel comfortable with the BBC system. The lack of public in front of her didn't help her, "And I didn't perform the song very well" she explained.
Helena Paparizou, the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest winner, was invited as a special guest on the show. Helena sang the Greek version of Céline Dion's classic Pour que tu m'aimes encore. Nana stated that she was really proud that Helena brought the Grand Prix to Greece and went on to sing live together with Helena.
