My arrangement of the "White Rose Of Athens"...written by the Greek composer Manos Hadjidakis, and made famous by the Greek singer...Nana Mouskouri. In 1961, Mouskouri performed the soundtrack of a German documentary about Greece. This resulted in the German-language single "Weisse Rosen aus Athen" ("White Roses from Athens"). The song was originally adapted from a folk melody by Hadjidakis. It became an enormous hit, selling over a million copies in Germany. The song was later translated into several different languages and it went on to become one of Mouskouri's signature tunes. The pictures are of the state of Michigan...Battle Creek, (Home of Kellogg, Post, and Ralston cereal companies), Mount Clemens, (Home of The Lionel Toy Train Corporation, and an historic train depot where Thomas Edison learned to operate a telegraph machine, and worked as an employee of the railroad as a young man in the 1860's), and Detroit, (Home of General Motors Corporation).
