Lullaby, the UNICEF Anthem

unicefcanada
18 November 2009

Lullaby, the UNICEF Anthem, has been composed by UNICEF Canada Ambassador Steve Barakatt to honour the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, recognized globally this year on November 20th, 2009.

The significance of this anniversary cannot be understated. It is a time to celebrate the tremendous accomplishments that determined governments, institutions, child advocates and individual citizens of all ages have achieved for children. It is also a point of reflection to consider how far we have yet to go to build a world wherein the fundamental human rights of all children are recognized and upheld. And, it is a time to commit with greater resolve to reach those children left out in the wake of the progress, without whom we cannot achieve the promise of the Convention.

The Anthem, its musical score and music video, are released in cities around the world today. Many UNICEF Ambassadors - Harry Belafonte, Nana Mouskouri, Maestro Chung, Maxim Vengerov, Angelique Kidjo and others are recording and performing the Anthem. Adult and youth orchestras are performing the Anthem in their concert series, in Canada and worldwide.

We hope you enjoy this moment to join them. For more info, visit http://www.unicef.ca
